Yves Saint Laurent, 1975
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
In 1975, Yves Saint Laurent made it sexy for women to wear pants with his iconic Le Smoking. Before, women wore pants, but mostly to be comfortable and casual. Women’s pants were often sexless and rarely worn to formal events. With all the sharp lines and tailoring of a man’s tuxedo without sacrificing a woman’s sensuality. Le Smoking remains as one of the sexiest outfits ever made.
